　　這個句子中包含非常好用天然的分句標志，標點符號。往往是作者在寫作時就對句子結構作好的劃分。當我們看到逗號、冒號、破折號和分號（, : —— ;）這幾個標點符號時可以將句子進行劃分斷句。本句可劃分為：

　　Especially significant was his view of freedom, / which, for him, was associated with the rights and responsibilities of the individual: / he advocated freedom of thought and of personal expression.

　　需要注意，which之后又連續(xù)出現(xiàn)兩個逗號，不需要劃分，for him 作為插入語，which引導定語從句。

　　2. 利用連詞劃分從句

　　分句法解讀：

　　在這個句子當中沒有可以直接將句子結構劃分開的標點符號，我們可以通過劃分出從句的方法把句子進行斷句，包括that、which、who、whether等從屬連詞。本句可劃分為：

　　Creating a “European identity” / that respects the different cultures and traditions / which go to make up the connecting fabric of the Old Continent / is no easy task and demands a strategic choice.

　　需要注意，本句通過連詞劃分后最后一部分仍然較長，我們需要找出主句的結構并且和修飾從句劃分開，Creating a “European identity”第一部分是ing分詞作主句的主語，主句的謂語動詞在Old Continent 之后，是is，因此在is之前再次劃分斷句。
